The Pender Island Guide began about 15 years ago as a vision of sharing North and South Pender with the world. This, of course was when the internet was young, many islands didn’t have internet access and digital photography was in its’ infancy. How things changed! This latest site is the 6th remake of The Pender Island Guide and hopefully the best version yet with many new features that were unheard of only a few short years ago.
The person behind the site is Kevin Oke, a professional photographer who has spent much of the past twenty years living in the Gulf Islands and exploring the many wonderful areas and amenities the Gulf Islands have to offer. Kevin is the photographer for the coffee table book Enchanted Isles – The Southern Gulf Islands and more recently The Cowichan – Duncan, Chemainus, Ladysmith and Region. While Kevin moved to the Cowichan Valley from Pender Island in the summer of 2009 he can still be found wandering by boat throughout the Gulf Islands area.
Kevin owns too many web sites, always causing him to have anxious moments about whether something was updated recently. His main web site www.kevinokephotography.com never quite reveals its’ potential but does highlight Kevin’s travels around British Columbia and other parts of our beautiful earth. Take a look if you want to enjoy photography of other cultures and…. boats! Kevin is addicted to boats!
Other web sites include the most recent addition paying homage to his new “home” www.cowichanvalleyphotos.com. Take a look around, this is a great adventure and we are thrilled you are joining us!
As usual, you may come across the odd 404 page, a sign of the times in some ways. WordPress is very smart but….. fortunately for us computers are still lagging in a few departments! Enjoy your travels.
